Tragedy struck Sunday while our area departments fought the Bovee fire. The area lost a tremendous firefighter and exceptional man, Mike Moody. "Mike succumbed to a medical emergency while he was actively fighting the fire with the Purdum Volunteer Fire Department which he had served on for over 40 years," said Region 26. "He has served as the Fire Chief previously and currently as the assistant chief. Mike has always been an extremely active member of the Purdum Fire Department. Mike was an active member in his community and known by first responders across the state. Mike was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a respected and well-loved member of his community." A celebration of life be held Friday October 7th at 2pm at Sandhills High School in Dunning. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.
